The Rev. Stephen Hagerty originally hailed from Portland, Maine, where he learned to hate shoveling from an early age. After high school, he pursued his undergraduate degree in Music Performance & Social Work at the University of New Hampshire. This was followed by a year in Buffalo with the Jesuit Volunteer Corp: East, where he served as Paralegal at Legal Services for the Elderly & Disabled. Returning to Maine, he worked for a newly organized non-profit, the Cancer Community Center (South Portland, Maine). He pursued his first graduate degree at The New School for Social Research in Greenwich Village, New York City, where he completed a Master’s Degree in Liberal Studies (Non-Fiction Writing). This is also where God led Rev. Hagerty to The Episcopal Church and his sponsoring parish of the Church of the Ascension. Working for the New York Public Library and then for Academic Services at The New School, Rev. Stephen eventually ended up for six years as the Registrar at The General Theological Seminary in the neighborhood of Chelsea (NYC). Attending seminary at Yale Divinity School/Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, Rev. Stephen obtained a joint Master’s of Divinity Degree/Diploma in Anglican Studies in 2015. He was ordained to the diaconate in March 2015 and to the presbyterate (priesthood) in September 2015.
